Paddock Paradise

Updated: Apr 9

Paddock Paradise is a designed outdoor space that allows horses to move along a designated attractive route in a given area, taking into account various zones necessary for existence.

Horses are naturally curious and, as steppe animals, their genes have a specific way of moving and shifting.

Abroad, there has been a growing trend of creating paddocks for horses for years, which are designed to meet the natural needs of horses to travel, reach and visit various places. When creating such spaces, we are limited by: our imagination, the space we have and, of course, the budget we have. By designating paths on which horses move to reach, for example, a watering hole, a feeder, a pond (in which they can bathe on hot days) or a beach, where a roll of our unicorn is as awe-inspiring as our sunbathing experience on the wild beaches of Hel, we not only provide horses with the stimulation necessary to maintain mental health, but also provide them with the necessary dose of exercise and easily have the opportunity to change the quarters intended for grazing.

A well-designed Paddock Paradise is also a way to deal with sucking mud, because selective drainage of routes and places will cost us much less than draining and dewatering entire paddock surfaces.

When designing such spaces, it is worth taking into account the natural terrain at our disposal, so as to make the best possible use of the space at our disposal, and the width of the paths, so that their width allows a tractor to enter, for example, to deliver hay, or to clean up the poop, which generates an innumerable number of multiplying flies in the summer season.

I encourage all people who would like to fulfill their dreams of such spaces to consult with horse architects and I keep my fingers crossed for people who are not afraid to set new "well-being" trends in our equestrian environment in Poland.
